The MITEY (Mental Health Education and Hauora) program links very well into our school values of Belonging, Resilience, Integrity, and Caring.

Here’s how:

  1. Belonging: The MITEY program emphasises creating a sense of community and inclusion, ensuring that all students feel they are a part of the school environment. Activities and lessons can help students understand the importance of belonging and how to foster inclusive relationships with their peers.
  2. Resilience: The program focuses on developing emotional literacy and coping strategies, which are key components of building resilience. Students learn how to manage stress, handle setbacks, and develop a growth mindset, all of which are crucial for personal resilience.
  3. Integrity: Through its emphasis on mental health and well-being, the MITEY program encourages students to be honest and true to themselves and others. It promotes understanding and respect for personal and others' boundaries, fostering an environment where integrity is valued and practiced.
  4. Caring: The program includes elements of empathy, kindness, and support, teaching students the importance of caring for their own mental health as well as that of their peers. Lessons often include discussions on how to support friends and family members, creating a culture of caring within the school.

Integrating the MITEY program into our school curriculum will strengthen these values, providing students with practical tools and knowledge to embody them in their daily lives.
